Great to see the way how how you play
Typical melody I would never have came up with which makes this a useful lesson for me.
Thx
Excellent phrasing Stephane - and the colors are there for sure!
Hi GMC!
In this lesson I will show you a way to mix the Dorian scale with the Melodic minor scale.
The goal is to add some "colours" in our playing and "words" in our guitaristic vocabulary.
The backing is an D-7 vamp, so we gonna use the D Dorian mode and the D melodic minor scale.
D Dorian mode : D E F G A B C D (It's the C Major scale from D to D)
D Melodic minor scale : D E F G A B C# D
As you can see there's only one note that differs in these two scale. Playing the C# will add
the color of the Melodic minor scale. You can also play the arpeggios containing the C# :
Dm7M7 FM7#5 A7 C#m7b5
As you can hear in the last lick, the C# can also sound a little bit "out", depending on your phrasing.
Hope you'll enjoy this lesson and do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions!
Have fun,
Stephane
