Wow ! This reminds me of Pachelbel's Canon Very nicely played !
Pavel Denisjuk is the Pavel Datsyuk of guitars Hopefully you'll come back
ive only just joined gmc...ive just learnt this lesson and ive about done it at full speed....i was gonna thank Pavel for his inspiration, only to learn he has left,or been banned or something...can anyone enlighten me what happened?
I miss Pavel..
Really great lesson. Its just a pity for me that i have only 21fret guitar...
nice job!!!
beutifull melody!!!
thanks Pavel
yeah, her is the clinic that says Pavel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87Iz3RHZNDQ
and at the end of this solo he plays this theme again (1:15), amazing arpegios !!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVynmM7fDZs
I heard it and i even saw Jason playing it in some clinic video.
Have you heard Serrana by Jason Becker, you would probably like it, even though it is played by a piece of crap MIDI machine on the CD because he was paralyzed.
If you mean like a copy of something - no - i wrote it on my own! It's just i listen to a lot of classical music so it may sneaked in but sure not on purpose
This seems somewhat classically influenced..
Am I right?
Or, are you just awesome.
The fingering is pretty natural and you can clearly see it in the video (that's what video is for). Writing down fingering for each lesson would take me ages.
I don't quite understand your last question about chord changes. The whole lesson is over a chord change. As sweeps are basically chords played note by note you should look at them as you were looking at a chord.
If you meant something else please shoot a question.
Great lesson Pavel, sweeping is my bete-noir. Sigh. Well, OK, one of many. I was wondering in the interests of studying a master fretter if you would consider annotating (not sure if you can do that in GuitarPro) the fingers you use on each note.
Also, I would love to hear something over chord changes. I'm assuming that since this is diatonic to C that it is meant to be played over C harmonizations?
Thx again, keep the great lessons coming.
lol at the end of the main video, i love the way you look up which means one of 2 things:
1) Jeez im glad i finally got that right
or
2) Damn i missed the harmonic!
Well, if you are not sure, try playing both ways and pick the one you like most and than stick to it always!
thank you very much but now that i tried your way i find that it is much cleaner!! i think i might stick with yours... but it will be a little challenging to do it subconsciously..
No - if it works for you than you can easily play it like that! There are 2 ways of playing sweeps: the way i play it (or Michael Angelo way) and the way you play it (Rusty Cooley way). This question was asked before so you aren't doing anything wrong! Keep playing like that if you like it better!
dang... cause ive been sweeping down, pull-off, up, up, down, down, up, pull-off! should i try and re-learn 3 string shapes according to your pattern?
This is the whole picking: down, pull-off, up, down, down, down, up, pull-off and it just repeats itself!
Pavel...i notice that when you 3 string sweep you pick down, up, down, down, down, up, down, up, down, down, down, up! is this how it should be done... or should we find the most comfortable pattern?
Thanks man! It's actually the music i listen to that inspires me for stuff like this! Rhapsody, Dark Moor and classical music. I'm glad you like it! Keep rockin' m8!
Pavel, you are brilliant. Without a doubt the premier teacher on this site. I just spent the last 3 hours breaking my fingers in after learning this lesson and practicing. You have monster strenght in those fingers. The way you raise your head at the end of this piece, I can tell you feel as if you are concluding a masterpiece of a symphony, and it was worthy of your approval. Your classical training is unmistakebly apparent in your lessons and style.
Hahaha thanks man!
Pavel you amaze me i want your autograph your gunna be huge some day
omg!!! That is the longest legato run ive seen lol! incredible! great lesson
Quote Hemlok: ...How did you manage that? time warp?
HA so true
Sweeping is still very difficult for me, and its my darn pickin' hand ><
Man i wish i knew aobu thtat, when i started sweeping. I only kept my pick at one angle the whole time. Maybe thats why i could noly mute well, when going up. Cus i had my pick point towards the knobs more, or the bround or w/e. HMM
Thanks for clearing up the pick position guys.
My sweep is improving already. Great post, Great lesson.
No problem Pavel...sometimes, my brain DOES function and I can make sense...than I go back to theory, and Im dumb as a stump again
COD still rules !!!!! haha
Travelin' Man: yeah - exactly! Thanks for making it clearer! I sometimes really have problems describing this kind of stuff!
I think what Pavel is saying...
downstrokes = the point of the pick should face you
upstrokes = the point of the pick faces the volume knobs
The ending lick is great! =D
That would have probably helped alot of other people like me

No - you are thinking about the wrong direction! Let's say left and right is how you described it - what i mean is on downsweep - you angle pick to the top of your guitar or let's say it to your head. On upsweep you angle the pick to the bottom of the guitar or to your feet.
If you are still confused i'll just have to make a video of it!
Ok well lets say Ill take your guitar for example. The downward sweep, the pick would be angled toward your whammy. And on the upward sweep it would be angled toward the fretboard. Is that how its supposed to be done ? Ik its hard to explain because its so natural to you .
- John
Eat-Sleep-andJam: sorry, missed that post! Jeez, it's impossible to explain but i'll try! When you sweep down - downstroke, top of your pick (the part that touches the string) is angled inside - so when you sweep it actually looks like your picking hand is first going down than follows the pick. When doing upstroke - pick is angled to the outside so again, up goes the hand and than the pick follows!
I'm not sure if you understood it because these things are indescribable in text! If you got the idea just sit down and try it until you get the comfortable sweep move.
all i can say is BEAST!!!
that was great...I cannot ever play that up to speed at my skill level...
must practice!
Heyy Pavel what about the question I asked earlier ? I dont mean to double post I just want a answer so I can further my sweeping skills
Thanks, good lesson-John
Thanks Pavel
I've been on this for about an hour now.Im trying to learn all of the licks them im going to practice the sweep after i memorize where i need to go.Great lesson im already starting to get some progress.
lots of useful stuff in there. cant wait to learn this one! sounds great!
Fingering is like this: 15th fret goes to pinky, 12th fret is index finger. Than when you move down to 8-12 - you move it exactly the same. Put index on 8th fret and pinky on 12th fret.
Pavel i have a question how do you make the transition on video 2 very begining from 12 15 to 8 12 ofcourse im talking about frets.I may find out watching the video but as im trying it right now that change is slowing me down and maybe im using the wrong finger or there is a easier way to do it
thanks
That was a great lesson.I cant wait to get started on this all night.Very smooth
awsome
BTW COOL riff man, you rule!
I'm gonna have to learn the technique, I'm at a very early stage in learning how to do it, almost like a baby. ><!!
Great stuff Pavel,
lot of music inside beside sweeps!!
hey wow this is a real great lesson its really smooth its an awsome sweep lessons in my opinion one of your best sweep lessons
Very nice, but gonna have to work on legato and speed up my 3 string sweeping before I tackle this one. Great Lesson:)
Awesome pavel! I wish I could play it
Sounds like no other!!! Just simply amazing, I think this is your best lesson yet!
sounds great!!!! but 3 string shapes are the hardest for me...ill guess ill give it a try after im done with my current lesson. exelente job pavel
Nice one Pavel!
Ill play this until my fingers bleed. Or until I'm able to play it.. awesome lesson
How am I supposed to do the up stroke part of the sweep. My downstroke is very fluid and smooth but Im not sure how to make the upstroke that smooth, Should I be like hitting thw pick at a reverse angle to almost cut through the strings or should I just go straight , up and down.
Thanks-John
Man, that solo gave me chills, excellent stuff Pavel, great lesson by the way!
i think pavel is king o sweep ...i hate sweeping
Cool - one to work up to definately!
nice one pavel still cant get right hand and left hand to work at the same speed but i am working on it. always lo forward to your lessons
Great lesson pavel, i can't wait to try this out.
How did you manage that? time warp?
Nice, but i think i saw this lesson b4.
